Silver and Disinfectant Applications

Silver has a long history of use in materials, manufacturing, water systems, and specialized products where its physical and chemical properties are useful.

Silver and silver compounds are used in a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications.

Depending on the particular material and formulation, silver may be found in specialized coatings, filtration systems, textiles, equipment, and other manufactured products.

Is Colloidal Silver a Disinfectant?

A product shouldn't be assumed to be a registered disinfectant simply because it contains silver.

Products marketed for disinfecting or controlling microorganisms can be subject to specific regulatory requirements depending on their intended use and the claims made for them.

Ultra Silver's concentration in PPM describes the amount of silver present in the product. It does not by itself establish a particular disinfectant performance or approved use.

What Does PPM Mean?

PPM stands for parts per million and is a measurement of concentration.

Concentration and Intended Use Are Different

Concentration tells you how much silver is present in a product.

It doesn't automatically tell you how that product should be used, whether it has been tested for a particular application, or whether it meets regulatory requirements associated with a specific use.

When selecting any product for cleaning, sanitation, disinfection, water treatment, or another specialized application, use a product specifically labeled and approved for that intended purpose.
